Updating a windows installation
I have a Windows desktop application installer that I created using
InstallShield limited version. I need to be able to push updates to it so
that the end user is notified as and when the updates become available. As
an example, consider how updates for Skype get available.
I also need a way to be able to force the user to update the application
before starting to use the application once the update gets available. I
think WSUS might be the way to go. But I am not sure of how the
application will get to know whether the update is available. I went
through How do you push Windows Updates from the Server to Clients?. I
don't fully understand what he says, but this link explains that you need
to add client machines. But I will not know which specific machine has the
installation. Any help will be appreciated. TIA
